William K. “Bill” Monier spent his summers growing up at A.J. Monier & Co., Inc. learning the ropes. He remembers filling material tickets for the field personnel and restocking inventory for 50 cents an hour. He then began drafting for shop drawings and learning estimating. Bill graduated from Texas A&M University in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology. After graduation, he worked as a journeyman, plumber and pipefitter for 10 months before leaving for the Army.
Bill spent 2 years on active duty in the Army in Germany and Arizona. He rejoined the company in 1967, and returned to the field for 2.5 years. Following his return, he became involved in estimating and project management. He became President in 1977.
With over 55 years of experience in the industry, Bill brings a lot of knowledge to the business. One of his favorite aspects of the family business was working with his father, Kurt A.J. Monier, who mentored him and taught him to run a business with integrity. Kurt emphasized how important it is to treat people with respect and to give back to both the community and the industry.
Bill has had the opportunity to turn many business relationships into genuine friendships which has been instrumental to the firm’s success. He knows that the industry is always changing and it is important to change and grow with it. He looks forward to see what the future holds for A.J. Monier.
Outside of work, Bill and his wife Phyllis like to travel. They love to explore the world together and prefer cruising to see the sights. Bill also enjoys playing golf, trying out new recipes and spending time at the lake.
